Myeik Archipelago, Myanmar

Overview

Key Features

  • Combination of tented beach villas and luxury tree houses
  • Outdoor exercise pavilion
  • Spa
  • Locally sourced, seasonal produce from the resort’s organic garden
  • Beach restaurant and bar

With both an immaculate marine ecosystem and rich jungle habitat, uninterrupted vistas of the natural world are endless. Choose between tented beachside villas or luxury tree houses nestled in the canopy, each with indoor and outdoor bathrooms enabling the delight of showering under the stars. The incorporation of wood and bamboo furniture coupled with patterned textiles creates a lovely boho-chic vibe. With the ocean a stones-throw away, it’s possible sea turtles will be nesting beside the teak porches. With a strong focus on the environment, Wa Ale was built using reclaimed wood from old fishing boats and traditional Burmese buildings; a style that proves consistent throughout the resort. Dine on sustainably sourced fresh, healthy cuisine and appreciate memorable ocean views from the open-air pavilion. Immerse into the wonderfully laidback atmosphere with fantastic service and unwind to the waves lapping and the gentle sea breeze.

Sustainability

20% of the property's revenue directly supports the Lampi Foundation, which funds conservation and social welfare projects within the Lampi Marine National Park. The foundation's initiatives include establishing the park's first sea turtle hatchery, providing a secure environment for two turtle species. Additionally, the foundation aids local villages and schools by regularly supplying supplies, medicine, and equipment, while also funding and facilitating training programs for the local medical clinic.

Why we love it

Built mindfully with extreme care and thought, no tree was removed during Wa Ale Resort’s construction. As a result, every aspect of this barefoot luxury blends meticulously into its jungle and marine surroundings.
