Wildebeest and zebras walking past the delta in Tanzania on a luxury Tanzania Safari

Luxury Tanzania Safaris

Your Luxury Tanzania Safari

Gain insight into the tribesmen of East Africa on one of our Tanzania cultural trips, discovering Tanzania’s unique dialects and learning first-hand how these communities have thrived on the land that meets the Indian Ocean. Feast around a fire, witnessing age-old customs and traditions before retreating to a secluded luxury camp deep within Tanzania’s wilderness.

For another perspective, take to the skies on your luxury Tanzania safari by helicopter, soaring over vast national parks in search of lions, wildebeest, and giraffes. Join expert guides as you track and collar threatened species, then visit remote villages to learn how local initiatives are tackling disease and protecting the country’s fragile ecosystems.

Four reasons why a Pelorus safari is different

  • Our tri-lateral approach - Unlock Africa by air, land, and sea. Soar over remote wilderness, navigate hidden waterways, and track wildlife far from the crowds.
  • Built from scratch - Every journey starts with a collaborative brainstorm, crafted entirely around you. No two safaris are ever the same.
  • Extraordinary access - Step behind the scenes of conservation projects, track endangered species, and connect with communities few ever meet.
  • Total immersion - Stay in private camps, explore with world-class guides, and experience Africa with complete privacy and purpose.

Trek alongside expert guides and primatologists as you follow wild chimpanzees through the forest, observing their social interactions and learning how each individual can be recognised by their gestures and calls."

Frequently Asked Questions

Tanzania is located in East Africa. To the east, it meets the Indian Ocean, offering both stunning coastlines and access to the Zanzibar archipelago.

As direct international flights to Tanzania from the UK and US are not yet available, a layover in Nairobi is often the best point of entry. Here, time in the city can be enjoyed before continuing to Tanzania, via Arusha, where your safari begins. Alternatively, international flights from the US via Amsterdam or Paris operate to Tanzania.

A privately chartered airplane is one of the most efficient and comfortable ways to travel, providing a unique and private experience to witness the landscapes from, while reducing journey times and maximising your time on safari. Scheduled light aircraft flights also operate multiple times a day between domestic airports and private airstrips.

While Tanzania is world-renowned for its extraordinary safaris, there’s so much more to discover beyond the game drive. We offer a transformative twist on the traditional safari experience, arranging incredibly rare encounters with local tribes including the Hadza and Maasai communities, where you will learn their way of life. Travel through remote, low-altitude villages and have the unique opportunity to deliver life-saving aid, such as malaria nets and LifeStraws, to communities in need.

Stay in a luxury tented camp or a private mobile camp set up just for you that blends seamlessly into its surroundings, offering both comfort and unique access to the wild. Join expert guides on foot and in vehicles, tracking wildlife through prints, markings, and subtle signs in the bush. A Tanzania safari with Pelorus is unlike any other. A Tanzania honeymoon strikes the perfect balance between adventure and laid-back luxury. Stay at five-star hotels in Tanzania and exclusive lodges handpicked by our team as well as the best luxury hotels in Zanzibar. Our team will ensure your honeymoon is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, whether its private access to leading wildlife experts or a remote camp set up just for you in the heart of the wilderness, every detail is designed around your vision.

The Great Migration Africa is one of the most incredible wildlife spectacles on the planet, and a large part of it unfolds in Tanzania. Each year, over two million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles make a dramatic circular journey across the Serengeti National Park, following seasonal rains in search of fresh grazing.

In Tanzania, the best time to witness the Great Migration is from July to October, when the herds cross crocodile-infested rivers in the northern Serengeti. Pelorus offer a unique way to view this incredible natural phenomenon from above. Soar above the crowds in a helicopter for a panoramic view like no other. Earlier in the year, from January to March, the southern Serengeti comes alive as calving season begins, attracting predators and providing dramatic wildlife encounters.

However, there is much to see throughout the year, as the animals in the Serengeti plains of Africa, including lions, elephants, cheetahs, and more, create a dynamic and ever-changing safari experience.

Absolutely! For those seeking things to do in Tanzania other than safari, Zanzibar offers the perfect balance of relaxation and cultural immersion. The Zanzibar beaches are some of the most breathtaking in the world. Think powder-white sand, swaying palms, and crystal-clear waters. Spend your days unwinding on the shores or diving into the vibrant marine life. Beyond the coastline, explore the island’s cultural heritage alongside a private historian, uncovering its fascinating blend of Arab, Indian, European, and indigenous influences that make Zanzibar so captivating.

Why we love it

"The diversity and unparalleled numbers of wildlife aside, Tanzania’s exceptional number of national parks means that there are many untouched corners and opportunities to escape the crowds on a private adventure."
