Sustainability
In close collaboration with Lizard Island Research Station, a world-renowned institution in coral reef education and research, the resort provides guests with an opportunity to learn and contribute to the preservation of the Great Barrier Reef. Upholding a strict no-plastic policy, the establishment is a proud member of both the 'Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef' and the 'National Geographic Unique Lodges Program,' underscoring its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the natural and cultural surroundings. The protection of cultural heritage is a priority, facilitated by the resort's onsite naturalist and their strong connection with the traditional landowners, Jiogurru of the Dingaal Aboriginal people. This commitment is integral to their ethos. A waste management strategy is in place to maximize recyclability and biodegradability, and an impressive 90% of all food and beverage on the island is sourced from local suppliers.
