La Paz

At a breath-taking altitude of 3,600 metres sits La Paz; Bolivia’s enthralling capital city which is surrounded by lofty Andean Peaks. Overcrowded, deeply chaotic, and brilliantly vibrant, La Paz is not to be missed. Explore the bustling city streets, encounter Aymara locals, marvel at the colourful street art, and sample local delicacies. La Paz’s unique aerial public transport system provides a sweeping tour of the vivid city. Taking this swift cable car across the entire city provides an insight into each unique neighbourhood. Moving you over school playgrounds, high-rise office blocks, and plush outer-city homes, you will gain a true insight into the enthralling life of this diverse and alluring city.

Death Road

For the ultimate adrenaline experience, cycle the iconic ‘Death Road’, a 60km route that descends 3,500 metres into luscious jungle vegetation. The narrow road clings to the cliffside, twisting and turning with obstacles including fog, landslides, and cascades. This is one of the most adrenaline-pumping experiences available and provides some of the most incredible views.

Salar de Uyuni

Possibly Bolivia’s most famed attraction and one of the world’s finest natural wonders, the immense Salar de Uyuni is a mesmerising and riveting landscape. Travelling in specialised 4x4’s, leave the road behind, replacing it with the endless expanse of the salt flats that stretch across the horizon. This sensational landscape abides by two seasons; wet and dry, with both providing different, yet equally memorable experiences.

Salar de Uyuni

During the wet season, the flooded plains produce a beguiling mirror-like effect through reflections of the sky. By contrast, the dry season creates crystallised salt and a pure white backdrop allowing for ample photography opportunities manipulating perspective and depth of field. Thunupa Volcano

Spend time exploring the immense salt flats by 4x4, foot or fat-bikes, venturing out into the open, without another soul in sight. Drive or hike to the summit of Thunupa volcano, considered sacred by the surrounding local communities. At 4,600 metres you will gain spectacular views of the salt flats dominating the landscape below. By evening, stay in the only hotel, where six exclusive, luxury domes blend perfectly into the landscape. Delight in sundowners as the sun transforms the colour of the sky and the wet salt flats magically reflect to create a vivid crimson image. After dinner, you will experience the beauty of a clear night sky, with stars shining brighter at this altitude due to no light pollution.

Amboró National Park

Travel off the typical path into Bolivia’s lesser-known wilderness, the Amboró National Park. This abundant nature reserve boasts exotic wildlife including idle sloths, enigmatic puma and rare spectacled bears. The dense flora and vegetation make for excellent hiking trails as you walk among giant ferns and cascading waterfalls. Take a helicopter flight out of the jungle and over the sparkling city of Santa Cruz, before landing at the foothills of the Andes mountains to explore the small charming town of Samaipata. Translated from Quechua as 'Rest in the Highlands,' this tranquil town is the perfect place to end your journey, as you are welcomed by friendly locals and beautiful surroundings.
