Sustainability
The Landing integrates sustainable principles into every project, each residence is made with local timbers and fieldstone and is sited to capture the natural warmth of the sun and cooling cross breezes with wood-fired heating. Guest care products and cleaning products use sustainably sourced packaging wherever possible, and recycling is available in every residence.
To support the local community and wider region, The Landing provides expertise, funding, and maintenance for the Rangihoua Heritage Park as well as working with local schools on conservation and cultural projects. The on-site vineyard certified by Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand, and on-site winery minimise transportation of produce to the property.
The Landing has planted more than one million trees and plants across the property over the last 20 years and has an on-site nursery that produces over 100,000 native seedlings a year. A predator control programme was introduced allowing the regenerated forest and wetland to attract rich native wildlife including one of the densest kiwi populations in the country. In support of the Native Forest Restoration Trust, a collaboration with the Britomart precinct was put in place to give away thousands of native trees.
