Set along the boulder-strewn banks of the Sand River in Singita’s privately owned reserve within the renowned Sabi Sand Game Reserve, Singita Boulders Lodge has a unique sense of place blending seamlessly with the African landscape. Timber-framed, the organic pillars echo the twisting branches of the surrounding trees, whilst infinity plunge pools echo the shimmering surface of the meandering river. The lodge itself is almost sculptural in appearance, channelling nature for a soulful African experience. A rich layering of neutral fabrics is used throughout the lodge, alongside the rough raw materials from which it is built, accented by handwoven and crafted pieces.

Design

The spacious villas feature large stone fireplaces alongside a grand four-poster bed with enchanting views through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Expansive wooden decks and walkways invite continuous engagements with the surrounding wilderness, with inside and out appearing to merge through the expanses of glass. These luxurious suites invite you to relax in constant connection to the reserve. The large bathtubs offer expansive views allowing you to wash away the African dust sand as you watch the sun set. Drift off to sleep to the sounds of hippos grunting in the nearby river or the distant roar of a lion.

Teams assist communities to thrive economically and socially in harmony with the natural environment, while its programmes have three main objectives: supporting quality education and skills development programmes; the development of small enterprises; and an improved awareness of conservation and sustainable daily living practices.

Elsewhere, there is a 100-year conservation plan in place to preserve and protect large areas of African wilderness for future generations. Working to maintain and restore the area to its natural state, they teach locals the importance of maintaining biodiversity, train anti-poaching teams of local people, and rescue dogs to protect the wildlife.
