ION Adventure Hotel

Golden Circle, Iceland

Surrounded by the volcanic drama of the Thingvellir National Park, ION Adventure Hotel is a luxurious, eco-conscious stay that feels almost organic to its location. With hot springs to soak in, a superb culinary offering and stylish rooms, this is the perfect stay when exploring Iceland’s natural drama.

Key Features

  • 45 rooms
  • Northern Lights bar
  • Lava Spa with an impressive landscape
  • Silfra Restaurant serving a modern Nordic cuisine
  • Experiences include horse riding, snorkelling, snowmobiling, glacier hiking, volcano hiking and river rafting

Constructed from an abandoned building of the nearby geothermal powerplant, the impressive concrete and black lava exterior successfully merges into the active volcanic landscape. The interiors reflect the eco-conscious concept with furnishings created from reprocessed materials and sinks made of recycled tires to lights made of lava and found wood.

Located only 30km from the bustling capital of Reykjavík, this is the perfect accommodation to explore the best of Iceland’s rich heritage, hardy flora and fauna, and myriad opportunities for extreme adventure.

With its unashamedly luxurious design and chefs with a flare of talent and an aptitude for making local ingredients flourish, dine at the Silfra Restaurant. Sourcing fairtrade produce from local farmers to serve authentic regional plates with a modern twist on Nordic cuisine, your taste buds will be challenged at every stage.

After a long day of adventure in Iceland’s enthralling wilderness, return to ION Adventure Hotel to recharge and rejoice in the geothermal pool, while taking in the exceptional sights of the northern lights glistening in the sky above you.

The hotel furnishings are made from recycled materials including tires, lava, and found wood, whilst the organic room amenities are made from Icelandic herbs. In addition, the hot springs provide geothermal hot water and energy for the hotel's natural hot pool, and all food is sourced organically.
