Fly over a volcano & snowmobile
As one of the most remote and volcanically active destinations on Earth, an Icelandic adventure would not be complete without exploring these natural phenomena. Explore from above, hovering over volcanoes expelling plumes of smoke for a truly unique and thrilling experience. Or, for a more in-depth exploration, embark on a challenging hike across vast lava fields blanketed by emerald moss to one of the more recently active volcanoes, gazing into the crater for epic sights.
The base for the next two nights is a rustic highland lodge, up in the mountains, which will be specially revamped for the occasion – think reindeer rugs and open fires and you’re on the right track. A renowned local chef will be flown in to ensure that the cuisine is as breath-taking as the surroundings.
The next day, drive to a glacier to put your driving skills, and the trucks, to the test. You will also swap wheels for tracks as you hop onto snowmobiles. The fleet will head off across the snow, making for an ice cave.
On the third and last day of driving, you will set out to complete the four-wheel crossing of Iceland. The route will comprise of yet more testing conditions, through beautiful valleys and dramatic gorges in the shadow of dormant volcanoes.
