Sustainability
The owners shifted from the historical purpose of hunting and turned it into a sustainable adventure lodge. Therefore, guests are encouraged to engage in conversations about the local ecology, natural resources, and the preservation of the area's historical significance. The lodge implements water and fuel-saving techniques, along with recycling and gardening practices. Currently, efforts are underway to rehabilitate a local sockeye salmon spawning stream that had been dammed by beavers. By providing a habitat for various wildlife, including bears, moose, beavers, wolves, loons, swans, and river otters, the lodge has successfully attracted these species back to the area, where they are thriving. Additionally, the lodge supports local communities and Alaskan heritage by serving as the Finger Lake checkpoint in the annual Iditarod dogsled race.
