Sitting prettily on its own peninsula in the centre of the Dominican Republic’s north coast, ÀNI Dominican Republic is a private villa paradise. This stretch of coast is known as the Amber Riviera for its rich amber deposits and golden beaches and is backed by lush jungle and the Cordillera Septentrional Mountains, while the tropical waters teem with marine life.

Design

There are 14 suites in total here, dotted across the four-acre property and positioned either on the western (Villa Amber) or eastern (Villa Larimar) side of the peninsula to ensure maximum panoramic sea, bay, and garden views. Offering elevated oceanside living, inside, earthy tones and natural wood echo the outside, with vaulted ceilings creating an airy feel. And outside, each suite opens onto private terraces and/or garden courtyards – the ideal spot to enjoy your morning coffee from.

Amenities

Named after the region’s precious gemstones, the two villas offer a sleek tropical yet contemporary aesthetic. Overlooking expansive infinity pools, inside you can expect a poolside Living Pavilion with spacious indoor and outdoor dining areas, an elegant lounge, a bar, games and entertainment areas, and a terrace with breathtaking sea views. There is also an Events Pavilion and a Wellness Centre where the gym and spa can be found.

The property boasts two large infinity pools to enjoy that overlook the bay. There is also a smaller children’s pool with waterslide for families. Located only a few steps from the ocean and two secluded natural bays, this area is great for water sports and ocean swimming. Or, for more active travellers, there are sports courts for tennis, pickleball and basketball. Guided cycling tours, local walks and a sunset cruise are all also on offer.

Culinary Experience

ÀNI’s dining philosophy is all about creating beautiful settings to enjoy delicious cuisine. Whether that’s breakfasts overlooking La Piscina Natural, a romantic dinner beneath the stars, or a beach barbeque spotlighting local catch, every meal will be savoured long after the last mouthful. Chefs draw inspiration from local flavours (think lobster and plantain) as well as cuisines from all across the globe, but everything can be tailored to your specific requests. And, in between your meals, the extremely attentive beach butlers will ensure that refreshments are constantly at hand.

Sustainability

Tim Reynolds, founder of ÀNI, also established the non-profit ÀNI Art Academies, providing multi-year scholarships to budding local artists and creating opportunities for future careers. Artworks from these artists adorn the villas, offering guests the chance to meet them and purchase their creations. The resort prioritizes employing local individuals, from entrepreneurs organizing in-house rum tastings to skilled masseuses. Inclusivity is a core value, guiding design choices to ensure accessibility for guests with diverse abilities.
