Design

Fenyan Ecolodge provides Jordan’s most alluring accommodation, boasting a selection of 26 rooms, each uniquely designed and centred around courtyards, reminiscent of the surroundings and ancient inns on the silk routes through the desert. The rooms range from a cosy standard room to the large deluxe room, but each has atmospheric lighting, private en-suite bathrooms with solar-heated water. We would recommend staying in the spacious deluxe room, comfortably sleeping 2-4 people with a large balcony and comfy chairs from which to watch out over the vast rocky landscape. A large mosquito net drapes over the cosy king sized bed which is decorated with sashes of saya silk fabric from Syria. The most beautiful characteristic of Fenyan Ecolodge is that, at nightfall, staff light hundreds of candles along corridors and up the staircases to the first-floor bedrooms.

Activities

The activities at Fenyan Ecolodge are endless, such as hiking and congressing in the desert landscape, to mountain biking or to immerse yourself in the local culture, try a cooking lesson with the locals, or even have a go at being a shepherd for the day. For pure relaxation, find yourself by the open roaring fire and tuck into a good book whilst sitting back and soaking in the tranquil atmosphere of the lodge.

Cuisine

The dining experience reflects the surrounding culture with deliciously prepared vegetarian cuisine. All produce and ingredients are freshly and locally sourced from farmers and nearby villages. The bread at Fenyan Ecolodge is supplied by a local Bedouin mother of five from the local village who bakes fresh bread each day for guests. Typically for breakfast, you will be served a traditional Arabic breakfast comprised of bread with coffee and tea, fresh fruit with homemade jams, and falafel. Breakfast is eaten on the terrace watching over the local shepherds taking their livestock out into the valley. Lunch can either be in the lodge, which is an Arabic mezze-style plate with fresh salads and homemade breads, or it can be arranged to take with you if you’re out on an excursion to be enjoyed in the wilderness. Dinner is served in the spacious grand dining room, or under the midnight stars with beautiful candlelight whilst watching the chefs prepare a three-course traditional Arabic and Bedouin seasonal menu.

Why we love it

You will never experience a nighttime sky like this. Take a trip up to the rooftop terrace where you can lie on a beautifully comfy mattress and sip on a hot tea as you gaze up to the milky way. With no other light sources bar candles, you will see thousands of beaming stars and planets with the occasional shooting star.
