Location

Tangier is a city steeped in history and allure. Over the decades, its cosmopolitan charm and Mediterranean mystique have drawn some of the world’s most celebrated artists, writers, and icons, from Henri Matisse and Francis Bacon to Samuel Beckett and The Rolling Stones. It is here that Villa Mabrouka enjoys an idyllic location just moments from the vibrant kasbah and historic medina of The White City. Though the luxury villa sits within easy walking distance of the city's bustling heart, stepping through its heavy carved wooden doors reveals an entirely different world - one of lush gardens, birdsong, and gentle sea breezes.

Design

Once the private retreat of fashion icons Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, Villa Mabrouka beautifully preserves their artistic spirit while embracing renowned British designer Jasper Conran’s vision of an elegant yet inviting home. Transformed from a private residence into a refined luxury hotel in Morocco, the intimate, 12-bedroom villa is set in one of Tangier’s largest and most enchanting gardens. Featuring two sparkling swimming pools, three exquisite restaurants, a rooftop coffee and cocktail bar, there are also three intimate garden pavilions, perfect for private dining. Floor-to-ceiling windows and doors flood the spacious interiors with natural light and sea views, and the design weaves together soft curtains, intricate fretwork, brass accents, and marble with natural rattan, mother-of-pearl inlays, leather, antique embroideries, and traditional Moroccan tiles.

Activities

Tangier itself is a hub of activity, the whitewashed medina a treasure trove of bustling bazaars and hidden boutiques, along with a fascinating museum, located in the historic American Legation building. Just beyond the medina, head out on a private shopping experience at the weavers' souk at the Fondouk, where exquisite artisanal textiles are crafted and sold. Nearby, the food markets burst with colour and the fish market is a lively spectacle, perfect for a morning of selecting produce before taking part in a private cooking class.

Dining

The all-day menu showcases light, seasonal dishes crafted from the freshest Moroccan and Mediterranean ingredients. Daily caught fish and seafood take centre stage and locally grown fruits and vegetables are transformed into vibrant salads, refreshing side dishes, and delectable desserts, including house-made sorbets. Every element, from traditional French breads to irresistible sweet biscuits, are prepared by the in-house team, ensuring a delectable dining experience.

Why we love it

The villa is perfect for an exclusive buyout, with a complete team of staff ready to take care of a gathering of friends or family. Whether hosting an intimate dinner or a lively celebration, every detail is expertly catered for, allowing you to fully relax in the lush gardens and enjoy the serene coastal setting of this grand seaside home.
