There is a real place behind the snow-covered mountains, deep fjords, reindeer and folklore of Frozen waiting to be discovered. On this family adventure, Pelorus invites you to explore the real places that inspired the magical Kingdom of Arendelle as you travel by private expedition yacht, experiencing the extraordinary landscapes, communities and traditions of Northern Norway. Sail between remote islands and stunning fjords, venturing ashore to meet the people who call the Arctic home and discover a culture shaped by snow, sea, and the changing seasons.

INTO THE ENCHANTED FOREST

Begin among the mountains and fjords of Lofoten, where colourful fishing villages sit beneath towering peaks and the landscape itself provides the first glimpse into the real-world inspiration behind Arendelle. Kayak through sheltered fjords, explore otherwise inaccessible beaches and step ashore into a wilderness of forest, mountain and sea. With immense peaks rising from the icy waters around you, it is easy to imagine Elsa’s journey up the North Mountain to create her spectacular ice palace.

Accompanied by an expert forager and chef, explore Norway through taste, searching the coastline and enchanted forest beyond for seasonal ingredients such as seaweed, berries, spruce and juniper. Back aboard the yacht, your discoveries come to life at dinner, where an imaginative chef transforms your foraged ingredients into a traditional Nordic dinner inspired by the elements of the Arctic - ice, snow, sea, forest and fire.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE STORY

Travelling deeper into Norway's living cultural landscape, your next destination allows you to spend time with a Sámi family whose connection to reindeer herding stretches back generations. Meeting the herd is an unforgettable moment: feed and walk alongside the reindeer, discover their individual personalities and see who can spot their own real-life Sven among them. Discover the very real traditions behind this enduring bond between people and herd, hearing personal stories of life in the north and gaining a deeper understanding of how these customs have endured and evolved within one of Europe’s most extraordinary environments.

Learn about the rhythms of the herd before trying your hand at the basics of a traditional lasso throw, with a friendly family challenge to see who can master the technique first, before gathering together inside a lavvu around an open fire. As daylight fades, swap stories and snacks as you spend the evening learning more about the Sámi people’s rich traditions and history, before the enchanting sounds of joik, a traditional form of song, fill the air.

ACROSS THE FROZEN NORTH

Continue deeper into the Arctic, where Norway's winter wilderness becomes ever more remote. Snow-covered mountains, frozen shores and quiet fjords provide the backdrop for time spent both on land and on the water. This morning, take part in a thrilling husky sledding experience across the snow, stopping to warm up by the fire with hot chocolate, and experience the stillness of the landscape as you travel further north through a true frozen wonderland.

After dark, the focus is on the Aurora Borealis. Far from the lights of towns and cities, these remote waters offer an exceptional chance to see the Northern Lights. Your yacht can adjust her route according to the conditions, with evenings spent on deck or at a firelit camp ashore beneath the Arctic sky. With a specialist photographer on hand, turn the evening into a family cinematography challenge, learning how to capture the colours and movement of the Aurora and create your own Arctic night scenes. The magic continues with a chef-prepared Frozen-inspired feast, transforming the yacht into your own Arendelle for the evening. Gather around a candlelit table for a playful menu inspired by the film and the landscapes outside – from delicate, snow-dusted canapés and Nordic dishes celebrating the sea and mountains to glittering ice-inspired desserts and warming drinks worthy of Wandering Oaken’s trading post. After dinner, settle in together for a special screening of Frozen onboard – this time recognising the landscapes, wildlife and traditions you have encountered for real.

GUARDIANS OF THE ARCTIC

Enter the icy waters of Vesterålen and Andøya, and you have arrived at the Kingdom of Whales. Here, the journey takes on a new purpose as you accompany an expert marine biologist to search for some of the ocean’s most extraordinary inhabitants. Spend the day becoming a guardian of the Arctic, learning how to identify and track whales while using hydrophones to listen to the underwater world beneath you as you go in search of humpbacks and other abundant marine life. During the prime winter period, the whales follow the movement of herring through Northern Norway, meaning the exact location of these encounters remains dictated by nature – which is why having your own yacht ensures the best chance of sightings.

As the expedition draws to a close, your journey culminates in a world sculpted from snow and ice, brought to life by local artists and musicians, some of whom may have even lent their voices to the Frozen films. Surrounded by this snowy landscape, this final celebration brings together the spirit of the journey - the wild beauty, remarkable people and ancient traditions that make the real frozen north more magical than any imagined kingdom.
