LEGENDS OF LIMA: FROM MARKETS TO MASTERPIECES

Step into Lima’s bustling markets with a culinary expert, wandering the vibrant stalls bursting with colour and energy. Select fresh ingredients from the gleaming seafood on crushed ice, baskets of tropical fruits and fragrant herbs for a hands-on cooking class, learning to prepare delicious local dishes. Your gastronomic journey continues with tasting sessions at some of Lima’s - and the world’s - most celebrated restaurants, where each stop offers a personalised sampling of standout dishes that tell the story of Peru. This evening, dine at a secret location - where a celebrated local chef and sommelier await, ready to transform your final meal of the day into a cultural narrative of flavours and traditions.

Learn about Lima’s history and artistic identity, beginning with a private tour of the Lima Historical Centre, home to the oldest inhabited house in the city and the atmospheric San Francisco Convent and catacombs. Continue to the Larco Herrera Museum, where exquisite pre-Columbian artefacts are housed before joining an art curator to explore the city’s galleries, private collections and design studios. Take part in a workshop with a renowned artist, discovering the vibrant, political energy of chicha art - merging popular culture, typography, and street influences. Set out on a private shopping experience, discovering heritage textiles or statement jewellery through private appointments at boutiques and concept stores. As night falls, an intimate cocktail gathering in a beautiful private home connects you with the gallerists, curators, and artists shaping Lima’s creative pulse.

AREQUIPA'S ALTARS AND ARTISANS

This afternoon, explore Peru’s “White City” alongside your private guide, from stunning 16th-century convents, cathedrals and colonial buildings to the traditional neighbourhoods of Yanahuara and San Lázaro, visiting local artisan’s workshops and cafés tucked away in historic courtyards. Dine at a selection of Arequipa’s renowned picanterías, each with their own house specialties. Learn about the ingredients, cooking methods, and use of local spices that define Arequipeño cuisine, tasting dishes whose recipes have been passed down through generations by the picanterías in Arequipa.

Go behind the scenes of a textile workshop to learn about vicuña fleece - from the high Andean plateaus where these woolly cousins of alpacas and llamas live, to the delicate process of transforming their ultra-fine fleece into exclusive textiles. Considered one of the most precious and expensive in the world, vicuña wool is still shorn by hand under strict conservation protocols. Learn the art of traditional Andean weaving techniques as you create your own piece, showcasing how ancient practices are still preserved and celebrated.

SAVOURING THE SACRED VALLEY

Today, visit the Sacsayhuaman fortress on your way to the Sacred Valley. Set out hiking or mountain biking to the salt pans of Maras and the terraces of Moray, stopping to savour a delicious Pachamanca lunch, where traditional meat dishes combined with Andean potatoes and corn have been slow cooked using heated stones in honour of the Earth goddess. Later, take part in a special ceremony led by a Q’ero Shaman, offering prayers for health, prosperity and protection, allowing you to learn more about Andean spirituality through ancestral music, origin and instruments.

Explore the Ollantaytambo archaeological site, one of the largest known Inca cemeteries in Peru. Interact with the Alqa museum’s curated exhibition, before dining on a specially selected lunch tasting menu, served in the museum’s gardens. Visit the Huatata community for a meeting with an innovative agricultural engineer who has dedicated his studies to improving organic native potato production. This evening, celebrate your last night in the Sacred Valley with a cacao ceremony, designed to gently open your heart and calm your mind. Sip warm, rich, ceremonial-grade cacao in a serene, candlelit setting, followed by a guided meditation and sound healing session.

CUSCO: CRAFT, COLOUR AND CACAO

Explore the cobbled streets of Cusco, echoing with centuries of Inca and colonial influence, stopping at the Cathedral of Cusco, home to one of the most important collections of colonial religious art in Latin America. Wander through the San Blas neighbourhood meeting local painters, sculptors, and artisans and stopping to visit their studios. Learn from a master ceramicist, shaping your own unique piece as they share the techniques and symbolism behind Andean pottery. Join a local weaving expert to discover the intricate art of textile-making, from the spinning of natural fibres to the weaving of traditional patterns. Experience a traditional mesa session where a local healer performs an intimate coca leaf reading - an ancient Andean practice.

Hop aboard a helicopter to the Chuncho region, one of Peru’s most important areas for both coffee and cacao production. Immerse yourself in the world of cacao, from the cultivation of the tree and its fruit to the harvesting, fermentation, and drying of the beans. Get hands-on as you roast and grind your own cacao beans, before preparing a delicious hot chocolate drink. This evening, fly back to Cusco where the day draws to a close. Sip cocktails accompanied by live music atop one of the region’s most iconic landmarks, the Belltower of the San Francisco convent, as the sun sets over the city.
