Sustainability
The Torridon employs biomass energy derived from local timber to ensure biodiversity preservation, with on-site chipping for generating fuel used in the estate's heating and water systems. A flexible forestry plan is implemented, allowing the team to harvest and plant new trees throughout the year, while water, including drinking water bottled in reusable containers on-site, is sourced from a borehole. The elimination of single-use plastics, utilization of food waste as feed for the Torridon Farm's cows and pigs, and recycling or composting of the majority of waste, including glass, coffee grinds, and shreddings, reflect the commitment to sustainable practices. The Torridon's sustainability initiatives have gained recognition from the Carbon Trust, Green Tourism Business Scheme, NOW Force for Good Alliance, and Earthcheck.
