Touching down in Scotland’s iconic capital of Edinburgh, you will be struck by how dark and brooding the city is. History echoes down the cobbled streets, while the hilltop Edinburgh Castle watches from above. Delve deep into culture and myth, visiting the incredible National Museum of Scotland, taking in the spectacular cityscape from the rooftop of the Camera Obscura, and walking The Royal Mile towards Holyrood House, the Scottish Royal Residence of His Majesty King Charles III. Spend time at one of Scotland’s finest textile ateliers and watch as tartan and tweed is woven by the talented team of artisans, creating your very own design that honours centuries of Scottish heritage. Meet with a world authority on whisky for a private tasting and sample from one of Edinburgh's largest collections, with over 500 varietals.

Hop aboard your helicopter and fly north to Speyside, one of Scotland’s key whisky producing regions, and a very historical part of the Scottish Highlands. From above, take in the fascinating geological contours of this ancient valley, home of The Glenrothes Estate. Established in 1879, the 300-acre estate has been crafting whiskies of exception for nearly 150 years, and for the first time is opening its doors and inviting Pelorus guests to embark on a journey to uncover the secrets of whisky-making. Here, you will stay at Rothes House, a private manor that has been exquisitely restored and grants exclusive access to The Glenrothes Distillery, previously closed to the public and now by invitation only.

Aerial view of two triangular rooftops meeting at a central point, surrounded by wisps of smoke and overlooking a forested area with autumn foliage.

Over the next few days, you will be immersed into the whisky-making process from beginning to end, starting with the most vital of elements - water. The Glenrothes is one of the very few distilleries in the world that still uses their own private water source for every aspect of their whisky-making and only a privileged few have had the chance to visit their natural geological spring. Allow your senses to be awakened as you move towards the next phase, stepping into The Glenrothes Distillery, ready to take your learning to a new level.

Here, you will be met by The Glenrothes Master Whisky Maker, Laura Rampling. Only four people have ever held the position of Master Whisky Maker of The Glenrothes, a nod to the exceptional level of skill required. Together with Laura, the team is led by Alasdair Anderson, Distillery Manager, who has been with The Glenrothes for over 40 years. Share thoughts and knowledge with these experts in their field, engaging on a variety of topics within the four walls of their private workshop and expanding your understanding of the nuances of this fascinating industry.

Sample from a carefully curated selection of rare single malts and embark on the journey to personally commission a singular whisky of exception. Each single cask is unique, unrepeatable and distinctive from the next. As part of your unique experience, you will collaborate with the estate’s Master Whisky Maker, who will guide you through the registry of available casks, discuss your individual preferences and help you select your whisky. You will then be invited to configure the bottle and presentation box, adding your personal touch to the exquisitely crafted final product. Both the whisky and the packaging are finite – forever leaving a lasting legacy.

Opportunities for adventure on the estate and beyond abound. Fly-fishing hotspots in the area are plentiful, including along the world-famous River Spey, with incredible prospects for both salmon and trout. Accompanied by an expert angler or ghillie, be guided in the techniques required to successfully land your catch. Continue your Scottish exploration by travelling south into the heart of the beautiful Cairngorms, the United Kingdom’s largest national park. Set off to glimpse Scotland’s epic wilderness, exploring ancient Caledonian pine forests on foot or on horseback and wild swimming in lochs and rivers.

Head out on an exciting off-road Land Rover adventure through The Highlands, passing through moorlands, illicit stills and age-old villages. Take part in clay pigeon shooting experience, enjoying a traditional Highland sport, whether you’re a complete beginner or an established shot. In the late evening, experience an evening out under the stars with a certified astronomer. The Cairngorms National Park is recognised as one of the best places in the world to stargaze, and provides the perfect place to pause and reflect, bringing this once-in-a-lifetime journey to a close.
