Once home to over 3.7 million acres forest, now reduced to less than 1% of its original size, Scotland’s nature is in urgent need of protection. Set out on this conservation-led journey with Pelorus, alongside the land stewards and key players shaping the country’s environmental future. Join the movement to restore land and sea on this exclusive mission, utilising Pelorus Aviation’s fleet of helicopters to access Scotland’s most remote regions, placing those with a passion for learning and outdoor exploration right at the heart of this wild revival.

THE HIGHLANDS REWILDED

A warm welcome awaits at an exceptionally beautiful Highland location, set amidst 23,000 acres of protected wilderness reserve. Once one of the Duke of Sutherland's most remote lodges, Alladale Wilderness Reserve is now a bastion of Scotland’s rewilding movement with over 1 million native tree species planted in the last 20 years. Hop aboard a 4x4 alongside your expert field guide for a visit to a nearby glen where you will witness firsthand the efforts to regenerate the Caledonian pine forest. This evening, you will be joined by one of the foremost experts on rewilding in Scotland and the owner of Alladale, Paul Lister. Over a private dinner, gain an insider’s perspective into this ambitious vision, before setting out for a guided astronomy experience on the reserve – one of the best places to stargaze in Britain. Using advanced technology to chart the constellations and the movement of the planets, marvel at the spectacular night sky, undisturbed by light pollution.

Today, further exploration of the reserve awaits, as you visit the Scottish wildcat breeding program, and the Aquaponics Garden and Glasshouse, a symbiotic garden that uses cutting-edge technology to grow produce sustainably. Get hands-on and plant a native Scots pine tree on the reserve, which may live as long as 400-years, contributing towards the regeneration of this magnificent forest. Dine in nature, savouring a delicious lunch served in a traditional bothy, prepared by a wilderness chef over hot coals. Later, go foraging alongside one of the region’s experts, looking for wild mushrooms, berries and herbs to be used as ingredients for tonight’s dinner.

ISLE OF SKYE: SEAFOOD AND SCENERY

Soar over to the Isle of Skye on a scenic helicopter flight, where your re-wilding journey takes on a new element – the ocean. Spot famous geological formations such as The Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock and The Cuillin Mountains from above, looking out for Viking shipyards and remote peninsulas. Touch down to dine on some of the finest Scottish seafood on offer, before arriving at an exclusive private property on the West Coast, situated on its own 28,000-acre estate, accessible only by boat or helicopter. This evening, watch as a renowned local diver collects fresh king scallops from the loch, ready for your chef to prepare for dinner. End the day with an icy swim in the loch, before warming up in the steaming hot tub.

Visiting a nearby estate, learn how kelp and oysters are sustainably cultivated and harvested, despite the environmental challenges facing these local farmers. Explore a private island at the head of the loch, much of which has been reclaimed by nature and is now a stronghold for native seabirds. Encounter two rare sea eagles up close, as you board a luxury motor yacht alongside a falconry expert, who will teach you how to guide the eagles as they catch fish for you in a mesmerising display of strength and agility.

WILDLIFE, WILDERNESS AND WHISKY IN THE CAIRNGORMS

Your journey continues in the spectacular Cairngorms National Park, staying in a luxurious restored Victorian Hunting lodge on Glenfeshie Estate. Here, your days will be guided by expert nature conservationists, from ornithology guides to biologists researching specific species, such as wolves, lynx and beavers. Head out to set camera-traps and watch as your guide uses thermal imaging technology to scan for wildlife as night falls. Gain an entirely new perspective as you don virtual reality headsets that augment the surrounding wilderness, showing it as it was more than 100 years ago and bringing your imagination to life.

Set out for a hike along the banks of the Feshie River, learning how the forest regeneration has helped maintain the riverbank and safeguard the area from erosion. Exploring the scenic glens and valleys, listen out for the sounds of the bagpipes, leading you to where a delightful picnic awaits. Sit enthralled as a Scottish storyteller shares tales of this mystical land, learning the history of the area and its rich local traditions. This evening, you will be joined by a whisky sommelier for a tasting journey of the local Speyside drams, best enjoyed next to a roaring fire.

RESTORING HOPE

Travel north via helicopter to the aptly named town of Hope, perfectly located to conclude your discovery of Scotland. With commanding views north over both the Loch and River Hope, your final stop here is the exquisitely restored Hope Lodge. Embracing the wildness of its natural surroundings, the lodge is situated amidst the United Kingdoms’ most northerly birch wood, as well as the largest blanket bog in all of Europe, storing over 400 million tonnes of carbon - more than twice the amount in all of Britain’s woodlands. Accompanied by a specialist on carbon-rich ecosystems, spend time exploring the area on foot, learning about the incredible biodiversity of peatland, looking out for resident birds, reptiles and unique plant species.

Back at the lodge, practice your mountaineering skills at the climbing centre or go for a scenic cycle along the renowned North Coast 500 route. Explore further along the rugged coastline on a marine safari aboard a motor yacht, looking out for puffins, razorbills and rare golden eagles. Take to the skies for a final time, flying over the islands of Orkney and Shetland, touching down on Scotland’s most northernmost archipelago to experience some of its last remaining true wildland.
