Location

The Cairngorms National Park is well renowned as the largest in all the United Kingdom, and here, in the middle of a sprawling 45,000-acre estate, lies Glenfeshie Lodge. This vast, windswept landscape is one of the wildest of its kind in Scotland, where sparkling lochs are interspersed with heather moorlands and ancient Caledonian woodlands rise into dramatic peaks. Ospreys, pine martens, tooth fungi, black grouse, Scottish wildcats and many other wonderfully rare species can be found here. It is a place where eagles soar, wildcats prowl and plants thrive in a unique blend of ecosystems.

Design

Fusing Scottish heritage with contemporary elegance, the lodge’s design is deeply rooted in its wild Highland setting. The interiors, originally designed by Ralph Lauren, are elegant and refined with rich fabrics and bespoke murals commissioned specifically for the property. Upon entering, you are greeted by a grand hallway leading to a historic dining room, and a tartan drawing room anchored by a grand stone fireplace. Upstairs, seven ornately decorated bedrooms await, each offering spectacular views of Feshie River and the Scottish Highlands unfolding beyond.

Activities

While you can spend your days lounging comfortably by the fire with exquisite views of the glen, it is worth venturing outdoors to embrace the wild spirit of the Highlands. Hike through ancient forests with expert guides, swim in icy rivers and watch birds of prey as they circle overhead. For a different perspective, explore the moorlands on horseback, drive a 4x4 along winding dirt tracks or take to the skies in a helicopter for panoramic views of Scotland’s most dramatic peaks. After a long day of adventure, retreat to the lodge for immersive cooking experiences with your private chef, world-class whisky tastings with an expert sommelier and restorative wellness treatments in the comfort of your own room.

Sustainability

Glenfeshie Lodge lies at the heart of one of Scotland’s most ambitious rewilding projects, where centuries-old landscapes are being carefully restored. Once heavily deforested, the landscape is now covered in vast swathes of Caledonian pine forest, and wildlife is making a remarkable return. Staying here, you have the rare opportunity to meet the experts leading conservation projects in the national park and join them on guided rewilding walks, river restoration projects and wildlife monitoring excursions in search of wonderfully rare species.

Why we love it

Celebrated for its storied Highland heritage, Glenfeshie Lodge is widely considered one of Scotland’s most historic and exclusive estates. Its wild setting and refined design make it a truly extraordinary base for experiencing a quintessentially Scottish wilderness escape.
