Location

Tucked along the the banks of the Grumeti River, Singita Faru Faru Lodge gazes out over a bustling watering hole. It's prime location on one of Africa's renowned migratory routes ensures the lodge is immersed in wildlife activity year-round. Whether you visit in the lush green season or the drier months, each day promises a plethora of wildlife encounters. Here, herds of wildebeest, antelope, and zebra bathe and graze on the surrounding plains, stooping to drink at the watering hole and meandering past riverside suites. Spanning 350,000 acres, the Grumeti Reserve is completely private, ensuring your safari experience is intimate and secluded, far from the crowds.

Design

Shaped naturally around the watering hole and built using local, organic materials, Faru Faru Lodge pays homage to the surrounding natural environment. Spacious glass-walled suites dissolve into the wilderness, borrowing a palette of earthy green, clay and ivory. Fashioned with bamboo accent walls, thatched coffee tables, ceramic pots and tented ceilings, its interiors put a contemporary twist on classic safari camp. Suites are tastefully furnished with king-sized beds, claw-foot bathtubs, riverside verandas and private plunge pools, while the main lodge features an open-plan kitchen and signature Singita ‘bar-deli’. This central area pans out onto a stone terrace, firepit, and infinity pool which basks in a delightful view of the watering hole.

Activities

The safari experience at Faru Faru Lodge often begins without leaving your suite. Elephants wade past riverside suites and giraffes graze outside the fitness centre, which features sweeping walled windows and a range of equipment. The early mornings are the perfect time to venture out into the bush for a game drive, birdwatching or stopping off for breakfast beneath a fig tree. Take to the skies in a hot air balloon or trek through the bush on foot, tracking footprints and ancient game trails with expert local guides. Back at the lodge, wind down with a private yoga class on your veranda or bespoke aromatherapy massage in the wellness centre. Conclude the day with wine tastings, cookery classes, and dine al fresco under a canopy of stars.

Sustainability

A commitment to conservation lies at the heart of Faru Faru Lodge, which sits in one of Africa’s premier safari locations. To minimise its environmental impact, the lodge is powered by a renewable energy system, and the staff live locally. Guests are invited to visit local communities to learn about the conservation projects and anti-poaching measures that have put in place by Singita in partnership with the Grumeti Fund, a non-profit organisation dedicated to preserving the Serengeti wilderness.

Why we love it

In Shangaan, a language spoken in Southern Africa, “Singita” translates to “Place of Miracles”, and Faru Faru Lodge is exactly that. From its earliest days, the lodge has embodied this spirit, bringing luxury to the wilderness in an eco-conscious way. From private game drives to bespoke wellness treatments, this luxury lodge offers an elevated, exclusive safari experience in the Tanzanian wilderness.
