Cappadocia, Turkey

Overview

High above the sandstone caves and eclectic rooftops of the village of Goreme, the Museum Hotel sits, a triumphant fusion of modern luxury and perfectly preserved history. Packed with priceless artefacts and boasting breathtaking views, this hilltop paradise is like nothing you have ever seen before.

Key Features

  • 30 beautifully restored rooms and suites
  • Relais & Chateaux restaurant – the only member in Turkey
  • Heated outdoor pool which can be used in both summer and during the winter snow
  • Spa and wellness facilities
  • Spectacular location overlooking Goreme village, perfect for hot air balloon viewing

Vaulted ceilings and exposed stone walls are adorned with local textiles and priceless artefacts, perfectly encompassing the ‘living museum’ concept. Ranging from deluxe rooms to imperial suites, all are carved meticulously from the base of ancient sandstone dwellings, fitting harmoniously with their historic surroundings. Large beds take centre stage in subterranean rooms of arched coves and polished floors. Suites offer hidden tunnels leading to wide fireplaces and private jacuzzis – the ultimate romantic escape.

Musuem Hotel’s elevated location provides a stunning bird’s eye view of Goreme village and the surrounding valleys. This is the prime position from which to observe the surreal phenomenon of the daily hot-air balloon rides, rising in a colourful cloud and floating gently across the sky. In the cool of the morning, delight in the array of abundant fresh fruits and vegetables grown in the property’s own organic gardens. There is no better backdrop for your meal than Goreme’s rocky mountains and ancient valleys, with countless hot air balloons rising majestically with the sun. Museum Hotel is proudly the only member of the Relais & Chateuax family in the whole of Turkey. Feast on winning combinations of traditional and modern dishes and discover the forgotten flavours of fine Cappadocian cuisine.

The property offers a range of unique guest experiences throughout the year, including private hot air balloon rides, local cooking lessons and exploration of the valleys. You may also choose to indulge in authentic Turkish spa treatments to relax after your day’s excursions.

Sustainability

The establishment sources a majority of its kitchen ingredients from local farmers, fostering the regional production of natural and seasonal products. Additionally, it operates on 500 acres of farmland, where it cultivates many of its own agricultural products. It has implemented the first and only thermal drilling project in Cappadocia, which allows the hotel to be heated entirely by natural means. The organization also actively supports various charities and organizations, including the Chicago Cancer Foundation, Swiss Red Cross, and Childhood Brazil, demonstrating a commitment to community and global well-being.

Why we love it

Aside from its own stunning restaurant and dining facilities, Museum Hotel offers a series of hidden venues in the vicinity to make your celebrations that bit more special. Delight in an intimate candlelit dinner beside the crackling log fire of Loggia, or venture into the depths of the mysterious Cavo for a private dinner and extensive wine tasting. For larger celebrations, Love Hill and Maara Konak provide spectacular outdoor locations, swathed in romance and steeped in history. This magnificent hotel truly offers something for every occasion.
