South Luangwa National Park

Prior to 2022, the far south-western part of Zambia’s game-rich South Luangwa National Park was fairly untouched. Today, Sungani offers an brilliant addition to the landscape, built to emulate the natural tones and textures of the wild, and has access to nearly 70,000 acres of wilderness and only one other camp nearby.

 

Safari

Noted as one of Africa’s best game-viewing destinations, South Luangwa is a treasure trove of wildlife encounters and boasts some of the most spectacular scenery Zambia has to offer. Embark on a walking safari down the riverfront with Sungani’s expert guides, or spend an afternoon on a game drive spotting some of the locals: vast herds of elephant, buffalo, hippo and zebra live alongside lion and leopard.

 

Design

The main lodge has been built around existing indigenous trees and, inside, feels like an elegant, welcoming family bush home. Thanks to its open-sided design, you’ll be able to sight wildlife in the lagoon below as you enjoy a locally-sourced meal. And speaking of the food, the cuisine is clean and simple while paying tribute to traditional and seasonal produce. Dine in style, from delicious afternoon tea spreads and evening feasts showcasing African flavours and local produce.

Keeping the local wilderness preserved and safe is at the heart of everything they do, they empower people from local communities to work against poaching through employment and skill transfer.

With just seven luxury tents, you’ll feel completely in the heart of the wilderness here. The design is simple and understated, furnished with elegant natural textures. Each features a private deck, in and outdoor shower and bath, private plunge pool, oversized beds and all the comforts you would expect. Elevated off the bush floor, the rooms are linked by wooden platforms, below which animals can roam.
