The Edition

Reykjavic, Iceland

Iceland is often described as the land of fire and ice, and this hotel is the perfect amalgamation of both with a sleek glass exterior perfectly paired with warm design flourishes inside.

Situated in the historical, scenic heart of downtown Reykjavik, this harbour-side hotel is in a brilliant location for exploring the wonders of the region. There’s Laugavegur Street, the city’s buzzing shopping district, close by as well as the famous Blue Lagoon and the Northern Lights visible in the city during the winter solstice. With cityscapes, waterfront vistas as well as views of Mount Esja and the Snæfellsjökull glacier, The Edition has the best of Iceland on its doorstep.

Key Features

  • There is an array of culinary outlets offering panoramic views of the waterfront and the city, with two bars, one café, and one stand-out restaurant helmed by Gunnar Karl Gíslason, the chef behind Dill, Reykjavik’s Michelin-starred restaurant
  • Wellness spa with Nordic wet areas, sauna, steam room and relaxation bar
  • The Edition is just steps away from some of Reykjavik’s vibrant districts and is the perfect base from which to explore the town’s surroundings
  • Each room is warm, with expansive windows offering views of the harbour, Mount Esja and the legendary Snæfellsjökull glacier

Unfolding over the floors, the 253 guest rooms and suites are sumptuous retreats and each bed has been positioned to face the floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the breathtaking views. Whilst the outside of the building is harsh and black, inside you can expect a muted palette of ash wood and pale grey oak which is warm and inviting and is paired with faux fur rugs and furnishings from native craftsmen.

The large lobby gives a taste of what’s to come, with an accompanying bar warmed by a glass-covered fireplace and surrounded by an abundance of rugs and throws, with leather touches adding a sense of warmth and luxury.

On the ground floor, the hotel’s signature restaurant Tide offers a seafood-focused menu showcasing modern Icelandic cuisine using local and seasonal ingredients. Expect dishes such as whole Arctic char stuffed with lemon, dill and garlic button and braised lamb shoulder with pickled onions, mint and apples.

As well as the lobby bar, there’s a rooftop with panoramic views of the ocean, city and mountains, an intimate cocktail bar, a nightclub and a first-of-its-kind social spa. By day, this is a sanctuary to recharge, rebalance and revitalise. But by night, it transforms into the ultimate social pamper spot where the communal hammam and spa lounge will have you enjoying this “social spa concept” as you enjoy food and drink service between steams and soaks.
