Location

High in northern Norway's snow-covered mountains in the Arctic wilderness, lies Polar Park, the world's northernmost animal sanctuary. Set within a beautiful, secluded valley hidden from the outside world, Wolf Lodge sits at the heart of the park's expansive wolf enclosure. Along with the wolves, there are also resident lynx, deer, moose, reindeer and muskox here, with over 1,000 acres of land giving each species space to roam and allowing for ample opportunities to encounter and learn more about these animals throughout your stay.

Design

The lodge’s interior design exudes a Scandinavian ambience with textures inspired by the forms of traditional Norwegian farmhouses. The three deluxe master suites are complemented by an open-plan living space that exudes a Scandinavian ambience, where warm fur blankets drape the sofas, wolf photography peppers the walls, and a huge pine dining table anchors the communal area. Bringing the outside world in, the most dramatic feature is the expansive glass windows, framing the snowscape beyond and inviting you to cosy up inside to catch special glimpses of the wolves as they wander the grounds and peer back at you.

Activities

The undisputed highlight of a stay at Wolf Lodge is a carefully guided encounter with the wolves themselves. Led by an expert in wolf behaviour, this is the chance to enter the enclosure, where you may find the pack is curious enough to approach, and if fortune smiles, you may even receive the celebrated “wolf kiss”. Beyond the wolves, a private guide is on hand to show you more of the Arctic wilderness: set off to chase the northern lights or glide across powdery snow by dog sled, stopping to dine outdoors next to a roaring bonfire. Back at the lodge, an intimate fine-dining experience showcases beautifully crafted dishes from premium local Norwegian ingredients, with elegant presentation and thoughtful wine pairings throughout. You’ll also have exclusive after-hours access to the park if you want to interact further with the wolves or see some of the other incredible creatures that call this sanctuary home.

Ethos

Polar Park was founded in 1994, and operates with a deep commitment to animal welfare, housing a range of species across 12 enclosures that afford them as much freedom as possible to roam within their natural surroundings. With over 1,000 acres, this is one of the highest area-per-animal ratios for a park of this kind. Wolf Lodge operates in harmony with this ethos, embedding conservation at the heart of your experience.

Pair your stay with an epic experience

Why we love it

There is simply nothing else quite like Wolf Lodge anywhere in the world. With very limited stays permitted each year, it ranks among the most exclusive properties on the planet, a place where the boundary between the human world and the wild dissolves. It’s home to an experience that could not be found elsewhere: being welcomed into a wolf pack while the northern lights dance across the Arctic sky and falling asleep to the knowledge that the wilderness is just on the other side of the glass.
