Sustainability
Borgo Pignano takes a sustainable approach in the restoration and decoration of its villas, farmhouses, and apartments, utilizing environmentally friendly products and materials, including locally sourced stone, reclaimed slate, organic plasters, and eco-paints. The estate employs both innovative and traditional farming techniques to enhance soil conditions and reduce the necessity for irrigation. Natural systems are in place for rainwater retention and soil erosion prevention. Heating and hot water systems rely on solar panels and chip-fired boilers fueled by wood from the estate forests. Gardens are nourished with harvested rainwater, and natural and manmade lakes serve for farmland irrigation. The farming practices prioritize maintaining an "unstressed" landscape and animals, avoiding overworking the soil, infrequent honey harvesting, and eschewing harsh chemicals for overproduction. The estate cultivates a diverse range of flowers and plants to support the local bee population and proudly adheres to certified organic farming practices.
