Design

In perfect harmony with nature, traditional bungalows blend seamlessly with their surroundings, featuring high wooden beams and palm frond ceilings to create a cozy yet natural space. Cool concrete floors are adorned with locally made textiles while tall timber posts frame comfortable king-size beds. Safari-style curtains draw back to reveal floor to ceiling glass doors framing spectacular views of the untouched wilderness beyond. The rustic dining room is furnished with handmade tables and chairs, crafted by local tradesmen from golden teak and smooth mara wood, using age-old skills passed down through generations. Relax under the palm frond roof and indulge in delicious national dishes alongside familiar western favorites.

Gal Ola National Park

Gal Oya National Park is home to the country’s largest body inland body of water, resulting in abundant wildlife and luscious vegetation. Birds flock to this tranquil oasis in their thousands, while herds of majestic elephants roam the surrounding forest. Venture through dense jungle and across lush plains in search of Sri Lanka’s iconic gentle giants, at ease in the peace of their natural habitat. Alternatively, take to the island’s winding roads on two wheels and explore the National Park on a guided bicycle tour – a truly unique way to experience this magnificent landscape.

Sustainability

The eco-lodge is built using sustainable and local materials and standard practices at the lodge include recycling and energy and water conservation. On top of this, the restaurant uses locally sourced produce and food grown on site.

There is wildlife training and a research facility to work in conjunction with local conservation organizations in an effort to protect native species. The lodge also offers research and conservation activities for guests to take part in.
