Design

Unfolding over the floors, the 253 guest rooms and suites are sumptuous retreats and each bed has been positioned to face the floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the breathtaking views. Whilst the outside of the building is harsh and black, inside you can expect a muted palette of ash wood and pale gray oak which is warm and inviting and is paired with faux fur rugs and furnishings from native craftsmen.

The large lobby gives a taste of what’s to come, with an accompanying bar warmed by a glass-covered fireplace and surrounded by an abundance of rugs and throws, with leather touches adding a sense of warmth and luxury.

Cuisine

On the ground floor, the hotel’s signature restaurant Tide offers a seafood-focused menu showcasing modern Icelandic cuisine using local and seasonal ingredients. Expect dishes such as whole Arctic char stuffed with lemon, dill and garlic button and braised lamb shoulder with pickled onions, mint and apples.

As well as the lobby bar, there’s a rooftop with panoramic views of the ocean, city and mountains, an intimate cocktail bar, a nightclub and a first-of-its-kind social spa. By day, this is a sanctuary to recharge, rebalance and revitalize. But by night, it transforms into the ultimate social pamper spot where the communal hammam and spa lounge will have you enjoying this “social spa concept” as you enjoy food and drink service between steams and soaks.
