Mount Kenya

Arriving at Nanyuki airstrip, you will be welcomed by your expert Pelorus guide who will transfer you by road to your remote lodge on the slopes of Mount Kenya. Drive through dense forest, pass under soaring mountains, and keep your eyes peeled for your first wildlife encounters.

Rising with the sun in this remote wilderness, delight in a peaceful breakfast surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature, before setting out on foot alongside your knowledgeable guides. Trekking through the luscious forest and wild heath of grazing waterbuck, you will feel the beauty and remoteness of Mount Kenya National Park as the sun begins to warm the air around you.

The final stretch of your hike will take you to a steep crater rim which opens to reveal the extraordinary blue of Lake Alice below. At an altitude of 3000 meters, Lake Alice holds a remarkable beauty, as well as a huge concentration of rainbow trout. With neither a casting platform nor a boat, Lake Alice is one of the most remote fishing spots in the area and you can expect catches to reach up to 12lb in size.

By evening, delight in sundowners and freshly prepared food backdropped by the light of the moon and the stars. Your evenings will have you relaxing in the tranquil atmosphere, feeling at one with nature, before another day of fly fishing.

Wildlife Awaits

Awakening to the sound of wildlife outside your window, today holds another day of angling in the mountains. Today your guide will lead you through the forestry to discover several secreted rivers, gorges, and streams which have likely never before seen a lure. Following in the footprints of animals that have trodden before you, keep alert for leopards, buffalo, and elephants lurking amongst the luscious vegetation. Using the intricate skills you practiced yesterday, cast your line into the teeming waters, watching as the trout dart the surface of the water before taking the lure.

Borana Conservancy

After three days in this peaceful fishing haven, travel south to the Borana Conservancy where you will spend your final days discovering the huge concentration of wildlife Kenya offers. Private game drives will bring you close and intimate encounters with Africa’s big five, as well as many other enchanting species. Whilst bush walks are an incredibly tranquil and remarkable way to discover the pristine eco-system, horseback safaris bring you close to the wildlife, riding alongside giraffe, zebra, and impala.

Rhino Conservation

During your stay, join a team of rangers tracking rhino across the conservancy in order to gather data for the essential conservation work taking place. Not only does this experience allow you to contribute to the brilliant work being done to protect this precious species, but it also allows you to get close to these rare and majestic animals. Learn about the fantastic work the team is doing to prevent poaching and to create a sustainable ecosystem for this critically endangered species on the brink of extinction.
