Surroundings

The beautiful timber triangle, that houses the main lodge, is welcoming amongst the wilderness, with a wraparound veranda to maximize your time spent outdoors. Indulge in your personal wooden cabin, roomy and comforting views over the river and rugged peaks in the distance.

Sustainability

The owners shifted from the historical purpose of hunting and turned it into a sustainable adventure lodge. Therefore, guests are encouraged to engage in conversations about the local ecology, natural resources, and the preservation of the area's historical significance. The lodge implements water and fuel-saving techniques, along with recycling and gardening practices. Currently, efforts are underway to rehabilitate a local sockeye salmon spawning stream that had been dammed by beavers. By providing a habitat for various wildlife, including bears, moose, beavers, wolves, loons, swans, and river otters, the lodge has successfully attracted these species back to the area, where they are thriving. Additionally, the lodge supports local communities and Alaskan heritage by serving as the Finger Lake checkpoint in the annual Iditarod dogsled race.

Why we love it

The lodge is home to approximately 20 sled dogs, and guests in winter are invited to attend the lodge’s reputable dog-mushing school. Learn to drive your own team of huskies on the snows of the historic Iditarod Trail and participate in a timeless Alaskan tradition.
