This corner of northern Patagonia is known as the “Comahue region”, meaning "place of abundance” in the indigenous Mapuche language. Alternatively, this is one of the best places in Patagonia to hike, cycle, or horseback ride along numerous scenic trails in the Andean foothills, tracking a variety of rare wildlife including vicuña, guanaco, and huemul deer.
