Your circumnavigation of Mont Blanc begins in Geneva, arriving in time for an easy drive to Les Houches, where you will be warmly welcomed by your expert mountaineering guide for a briefing. As this is an icon of European hiking, this is a fantastic opportunity to discuss the route, which has been specially designed for you to include all the best cols, valleys, and nature reserves along the way.

There are a few days where you will have the option to choose between a more strenuous or a slightly gentler route. No matter which one you pick, each day will be an adventure through this stunning alpine landscape. You will have an experienced guide with you. throughout the journey, and your luggage will be transferred to each night’s accommodation so you will only need to carry a small day pack. This evening, enjoy time to stroll through this quaint Alpine town and make a few final preparations for your Grand Tour du Mont Blanc.

Your expedition begins as you set off from Les Houches, climbing out of the Chamonix Valley to Bellevue at 1,801m. Each day will present its own unique set of challenges and opportunities for exploration, with variations in pace and alternative routes which can be discussed at length with your private guide. Today, hike via the snout of the Glacier de Bionnasay or trek the lower route from Bellevue, via Bionnassay, to Les Contamines for your overnight stay. Spend the night in a family-run chalet, perfectly positioned in a scenic, natural setting facing the Mont Blanc range, with the large bay windows providing a glimpse over the landscapes that set the scene for the journey ahead.

The rhythm of the next eight days will begin to take shape as you get into a daily routine of hiking, however each route will be unique in the sense of new jaw-dropping viewpoints, technical ascents and rocky terrain, all designed to test your endurance but with unbeatable rewards. Crossing from France into Italy at the peak of the Col de la Seigne is a highlight, where stunning scenes of the jagged peaks, hanging glaciers and plunging waterfalls that make up the southern side of the Mont Blanc Massif await.

Following the trail, while regaining your strength each evening with nights spent in cozy mountain hotels and refuges, reach the glorious summit of Grand Col Ferret, where you will cross the border into Switzerland. The descent on the other side is a resplendent scene of quaint chalets, grazing cattle and fabulous alpine views. Your overnight stop is the idyllic village of La Fouly. Protected by high peaks on three sides, La Fouly is naturally isolated and surrounded by nature, with magnificent views up to the glacier.

Some stages will be more tranquil, while others will require traversing some undoubtedly challenging terrain. On your final morning, you will set off for the last day of your extraordinary mountain adventure. Ascending to the rocky pedestal of the Col du Brevent at 2,525m you will have a final opportunity to take in the enormity of Mont Blanc. A long descent will return you to Les Houches, the place where it all began ten days ago, and the point at which you will have completed an epic circuit of Mont Blanc.
