Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Commence your adventure in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Possibly Uganda’s most valuable asset, this is Africa’s oldest, rarest and most diverse ecosystem. Home to half of the world’s population of Mountain Gorillas, this area is a sanctuary for these endangered creatures.

Trek Through the Bwindi Forest

Accompanied by a patient ranger, embark on a trek through the Bwindi forest in search of gorillas, as you learn about their behavior from your knowledgeable guides, whilst keeping your eyes out for precious wildlife. Come face to face with a troop in the perfect isolation of their jungle habitat and observe their charismatic and inquisitive mannerisms. Unlike any other wildlife encounter, your unique experience with a creature so rare and wild is truly unforgettable.

“The Keepers of the Forest”

Meet the Batwa Pygmies in a fascinating tribal experience. Now known as “The Keepers of the Forest,” this tribe are the original human dwellers of the Bwindi Forest Reserve. It is estimated they have existed in equatorial forests for around 60,000 years. Gain an educational insight into their lives as they demonstrate hunting, gathering, harvesting and music skills. Led by the Pygmies, go on a guided nature walk to discover more about the surrounding environment and the wildlife that inhabits it. This is an eye-opening opportunity to broaden your understanding through participating in their lifestyle.

Lake Bunion

Continue on to Lake Bunyoni, a beautiful water source with a contorted shore encircling 29 islands. Surrounded by terraced hillsides, the lake’s clear waters are free from crocodiles and hippos, making it wonderfully safe to swim. A fruitful ground for exploration, spend the day boating, swimming, hiking and birding. Indulge in Lake Bunyoni’s tranquility as you explore by water on a night time canoe ride, surrounded only by the peaceful chorus of crickets, frogs and nocturnal birds.

Kibale Forest National Park

Venture north to the lush tropical habitat of Kibale Forest National Park where animals and birds are bountiful. Pleasantly unaffected by human habitation, this evergreen rainforest has become Africa’s most important primate sanctuary, supporting a highly protected population of chimps. Set out on a primate trek in search of chimpanzees and look out for other species including the colobus monkeys and olive baboons. Once located, spend precious time with these impressive creatures observing them feed and play. Take time to notice their profound intelligence as they communicate amongst themselves. To discover more of Kibale Forest, nature walks provide the opportunity to spot mammals such as serval big cat species, forest elephants, giant hogs and buffalo.

Murchison Falls National Park

Visit Murchison Falls National Park which boasts impressive animal populations and great activities. Enjoy a boat trip along the River Nile to Murchison Falls where the river dramatically explodes through a narrow gorge. Witness the banks brimming with hippos, crocodiles and waterbucks, as the water cascades 43 meters below. Hop on board a helicopter to view the falls from a different perspective and explore the park in vehicles for fantastic opportunities to spot the big five.
